What is your RE identity?

How do you identify?

Does that seem like an obscure question when you thought you were going to dive into a real estate blog? Well, we hope to open your mind to what we are talking about!

Let’s get started!

i·den·ti·ty

/īˈden(t)ədē/

noun

  1. 1.

the fact of being who or what a person or thing is.

What is the true meaning of identity?

Identity refers to our sense of who we are as individuals and as members of social groups. It also refers to our sense of how others may perceive and label us.

Now that we have laid out the definition and meaning of identity we can now move on to the juicy bits! We must implement these definitions into your personal real estate journey! (This goes for all of you seasoned homeowners, all you first timers, and all of you have thought, dreamed, and wished for this!)

We are going to break this concept down old school style! Who, What, When, Where, and Why.

WHO: YOU!!!

We need to dial in who you believe you are in your real estate identity! If you are exactly where you want to be in this area of your life and do not want to change anything, congratulations! The facts show that 90% of people want to be recognized as something different than where/ what they are in respect to their real estate identity. So, what are the identities we should consider?

Let’s start with Renter. A renter is a person who pays a certain amount of money monthly according to a contract. Other words for renter used could be occupant, leaseholder, lessee, roomer, and rentee. Often the people who most want to change their real estate identity are renters. People who have been dreaming of owning a home of their own! But don’t get it twisted, there are also plenty of renters who love the lifestyle they have and are content!

The next real estate identity we will uncover is the identity of the homeowner. A homeowner is defined as a person(s) who legally owns a home. Homeownership is a pinnacle in the concept created called the American Dream. This concept is based around the facts of freedom and the natural basic human needs – Food, Water, Shelter.

The last identity we want to bring forth is the Investor. An investor is a person or organization that puts money into financial plans, property, etc. with the expectation of achieving a profit. This one is interesting and could be intertwined with the others. You are automatically an investor when you own a home and therefore you are a homeowner and an investor. The same way you can also be a renter and an investor! Whoa, mind-blowing right?

WHAT: This one is not as hard as we want to make it. WHAT ARE YOU? Renter? Homeowner? Investor? Both? All three? We are going to dig into how to determine this in our 12 week series and we would love for you to join us!

WHEN: Listen, life is busy. The when is totally up to you and we are here to support you along the way. Most of the time we hear that people have been thinking about this for a lifetime. The part that trips us up is US! We want to help you start on your road to success!

WHERE: Hey that is up to you! We can tell you that once you decide WHO you are in your identity, when the time for you to become this is, your where will fall in line.

WHY: There is a beauty inside of all of us that guides our want/need to strive for personal goals, be the best we can be, better ourselves when we can, and do the best we can. We get to choose who we are and how we present that. Each of us has our own why factor. In our new series we will figure out yours!

The hardest part is also the first step. Dedicating time and understanding to how you think of yourself in the world of real estate is how to build the trajectory to your future identity! This concept could be brand new for you or it can be something you live by. Either way, there is no better time than now!
