2021 Wild Goals

“If your goals do not scare you to death, then they are not big Enough”

So here we are again… Another new year…. wait did you hear what I said??? ANOTHER, which means two things… You’re alive and breathing (be grateful), and you made it through one of the most bizarre, and challenging years we have all seen in decades. 2020. The year of COVID-19. The year that many of us had “planned for” in 2019 - “This will be my year”. Well was it? Maybe. Maybe not. But like I said about two sentences ago, YOU MADE IT THIS FAR!!!!!

It’s time to really kick it into gear! No one knows what 2021 has in store for us, but we are blessed with the opportunity to try. In just 27 short days from when I am writing this Blog, 2021 will be here. Are you ready to give it your best shot??? I AM!!

Dreaming is scary sometimes, and goals can be ominous to stand up to. Setting a plan feels like you are writing another long thesis, and taking that leap of Faith might mean doing something different. An amazing friend of mine once told me, “In order to see change, you must do something different”. Whoa. Absolutely true and a tad confusing as well. What does that even mean?? Ok, good question, for example, say you are going to plan on losing weight. Well first of all, there is a reason you are wanting to lose weight, and second of all whatever you are currently doing (or not doing), is not working. ENTER CHANGE MODE. Ouch. Losing weight is going to take you deciding to eat differently, and moving your body more…. see how this works? The same way you have to make the change to lose weight to get the DIFFERENT result, is the same way you have to make any CHANGE, DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

Lecture is on pause for a minute.

Ask yourself this, “what is holding me back from being this new version of myself?” Only you can answer that. It’s great to get opinions from family and friends, but usually you get the soft version, ask yourself and answer truthfully. Write down your goals. This will start with you asking yourself this first question because then you will know what is standing in your way. Not literally, but you will likely find that you are scared, or worried, or feel not good enough, or that you lack a skill. Step out of your own way because if your goals don’t scare you, they are big enough. DREAM BIGGER. When you start showing up well for yourself, you will notice that most other things in your life will start to align.

There are many kinds of goals, try to stick to 3-5 goals, and then break it down to 1 main goal that you believe will help you achieve the rest. Not all goals will be marked by a time frame, or stopped at a certain bookmark. Give yourself the grace you need to be successful, and surround yourself with positive encouraging people. Here is an example, perhaps your goals are to 1) run a marathon, 2) lose weight, 3) Sleep more… What could be your main goal to help you get there? How about Main Goal- Exercise every day. Easy enough? Whatever your decide, is for you, if it is not and you are trying to please others through your achievements, you won’t make it very far!

Writing down your goals and revisiting them every few months is so important. One, it helps you track your progress, and two it reminds you WHY you are striving for this in the first place. Be as detailed as you want as long as you have the concept and steps you need to get where you are going! We are all wired differently, some of us need/want accountability, while others are the silent but deadly kind. Know yourself, trust yourself, stay true to who you are, and no matter high high the mountain, you will reach the top! This is an ancient concept and it is proven to work, all you have to do is take the first hard step. YOU GOT THIS!

TO DO:

Write this down! Revisit it 2-4 times a year!

GOALS- Choose 3-5 goals

(If you have too many goals at one time you will never be able to do them all well, small numbers make sure more chance of success)

MAIN - From the 3-5 choose one main goal that will help you to reach the others faster

(Typically, out of the 5 you decide, there will be a common theme - Lifestyle, Career, Family, Friends, etc)

BE CONSISTANT

Each day is a new day to try again, and again, and again. If today you didn’t do exactly what you planned, let it go, breathe, and get after it when you wake up! Like I said before… YOU GOT THIS!!!!
