Relocating
STAY THE PATH.
Speaking from personal experience from someone who has done relocating both ways… It’s hard no matter what. Not even counting the emotions or stress that you will inevitably face, the traveling could do you in if you don’t plan accordingly. I have done the cross county, the state to state, the back and forth, and I have done it well planned, and not planned at all. Take the advice. Do it with a plan!
At Armor Real Estate we believe that every relocation has 3 major pieces to consider, Motivation, Location, and Duration.
In order to plan accordingly, you have to know each of these factors for your relocation. Once you have them figured out, the plan typically falls into place. So to help, we will take you through the understanding of each of these concepts. To break it down to easily understand, the motivation piece will be the “why” you are making this choice to relocate, the location part is going to allow us to plan how to get there since it is where you are going, and the duration piece is going to help us decide “how” to plan, is this long term or short term?
Let’s start with the Motivation piece. Just like every decision or plan in life, the “WHY” in your situation will motivate you to proceed through the execution. So, why are you moving? What is the motivation behind the move? Think about this for a second… Whether you are relocating for a job, taking a shot on a fresh start, or moving back home, its YOUR decision why and how. Believe it or not, many people before you have made the leap, and many will after you! Ultimately your “WHY” really should be the key to how fast to jump, where to jump, and for how ling. This piece is typically the driving factor for the other two! Even if you motivation factor was not thought up by you, it will determine the rest!
Ok so, now you know why you are going which usually shines a light on these next two factor, Location and Duration. So let’s talk about where you’re going! How exciting (or maybe not?). Depending on if this decision to relocate was brought on by a Boss who tells you where you are heading, or off a whim of needing a change, by this time you know where you are going! Consider things like, where you will live, safety of the environment, do you know anyone there that could help navigate and be your eyes? You will now also know how far and how long it will take you to get there, by car or plane! This will allow you to consider if you want/need a car, and if you need a road trip buddy to take with you :) This second step combine will allow to you start really planning the move!
Duration. No, this does not mean how long it will take to get there. This actually forces your brain to think about “how long” this relocation will be for. If this is a long term relocation, you will want to consider how to make the best investment on where you will live, buying Vs renting? If this is a short term relocation, you might want to consider how to save money renting and having roommates? These are just a couple options and views on the terms of your move. At the end of the day, the name of the game is investment. You are investing your “Why”, your “Where”, and your “How”.
Of course there will be twists and turns along the way, that’s exactly why knowing these three key factors as to your own personal relocation is crucial! It is also exactly how you will formulate the plan. There will also be other components like job, timing, your personal needs, money to make the move, and more! Every step a long the way is one step closer to the next phase of your adventure, most importantly,
STAY THE PATH.
